I noticed these green and yellow kiosks all around the cities of Spain with the word ONCE on it. At the top and all around the sides of the kiosk, it also had large braille prints and dots as well. I was very curious as to what the kiosk was for and why it had braille, so I asked one of the staff at my language school.
Integrating the blind and visually-impaired into society
ONCE is the Spanish Organisation for the Blind, and stands for Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles. This organisation started in 1938 and aims at supporting the blind and visually-impaired by providing social services such as job training. The social services are specialised for those in the blind community and focus on the individuals to become self-reliant.
The kiosks
Inside these kiosks, blind and visually-impaired people sell lottery tickets called Cupóns and other games of chance. This work provides an income for those in the blind community and allows them to not rely solely on allowances.

I feel that usually support for the disabled community and their integration into society is carried out silently in the background in Australia and Japan. I think it is amazing that Spain is able to put it in plain sight.
